Comrade

Save our girls
they’re our best assets
Spread these boys
Ashes
Save our girls
Because we have to
Leave death behind
Don’t mention it
Just save our girls
We come in peace, we are blind
No blood on our hands
Unless those girls die
We wouldn’t want that
So don’t hear his memory cry

And please
Make it so
It’s he for she
Because equality
Starts with for
And not with
Don’t you see
This is the way forwards
For she says
It is

Statues made
Bold as brass
They got their names in history books
So, well done lads!
Don’t you know
Every single day
Is hanging only on what men say!

So pull up your big boy pants
And shut your trap
Look at that statue made of brass!
You can be a hero one day, just like that!
What do you say, comrade?

Why I love rain

My pain is the silent kind
Slowly rolling the marbles
In empty spaces in my mind
The kind of pain that asks for scars
To show for it
While hiding behind a mask

It’s that slow searing pain
That comfort is sought in silence
Standing in the rain
So that the drops can mingle with the tears
I’m too afraid to name

And I can laugh while they fall
And no one will notice at all
Rain becomes my shroud
My sanctuary
My moment to suffer visibly
But while others still can’t see

Hospital

I almost hesitate
Now that I’m in this place
All the sick faces
Looking at me
I just want to run away
“Why are you putting yourself through this?”
I know I’ve been waiting for years
And I don’t want to go back
But I don’t really want to be here
I just want to leap straight
To the aftermath
With out all of these medicated plans
I’m tired from barely sleeping
Thinking about it
Wondering if I can make it through this
Feel like I’ve walked under another dark tunnel
And I can’t yet see the end
There are lights on the ceiling
But that all seems meaningless
They’re dully lit anyway
And the faces around me look like ghosts
Reminding me this is a place where souls come to go
