The Jay
One may say
Is a moustachioed magpie
Or it may just be I
But I see wisdom deep set
In his pale blue eyes
Garrulus glandarius
What significance comes
From such a noisy name
Matching the moustache
Which should surely bring him fame
His covert feathers flash by
a blue flame
In the blink of an eye
writing
Blind
Why can’t you see that
Your pushing past
Dinosaurs
Who trespass
The periphery of your vision
But not the centre of your mind
Leaving giant prints behind
You, standing there
In the footprint of Argentinosaurus
The world hanging on
Waiting for you to notice
Not whole
Don’t overwhelm
With your gratitude
Or disappointment
I know I’m not whole
With or without you.
Alleyway Robin (words from a wordle a couple of weekends back)
The alleyway Robin
Shoots me a look
it’s beady eyes an insight
Into the blocks of light
Swimming in her brain
“I’ve a penny for your seed sir,”
She tweets, head tilted
Training her sights on me
Permitting me momentary refuge
From the purgatory within
That one sustained note
Trying to find that one sustained……..
Note……
That resonates…
With this despair
Swelling in my chest
Hindering my capacity to breathe
That one note
As a howl to the wind
Haunting this world
As I am haunted in mind
Letting go
Giving into the pointlessness
Of existence
Time like sand slipping through fingers
Running
Head first into the demons
letting go
Of resistance
Exist
The cliffs and the sea are not friends or foe
They just simply exist
If only you and I could see our lives
In such a way
As the sea erodes rocks
Our tears chisel and etch lines on our face
Longing to be remembered
But not retraced
The fall to anger
In this anger I have raged
Never to do that again
Burning fuses before the game
Incarcerating myself in guilt and shame
After the change
From hatreds summer to wilting
And falling
Walking back on moments
Trespassed
By impatience
The irony of having fallen further behind
Elephant
The redness of your cheeks as you blush
From the words you can’t, won’t say
Gives you away
As we take in this moment
Our fragility stronger than us
While the elephant
Sits at the periphery of this silence
Breath
The hush of the sea sounds like the worlds breath
Each breath a different shape
Each slotting together
like a jigsaw
