A magniloquent wind up bastard
Chartaceous, a wasps nest
Verbose on’t tongue
Clockwork brain with rusted gyral
Death rattles us on tickin’ tocks downward spiral
Did I mention I’m certified unhinged
A wheel short o’ a penny farthin’
Aye, it’s true but thee can’t put me back in’t box
Cuz I upped an’ sprung
Jack sprung from ‘ere

Glad to see you out of the box to join in – great poem🙌

Matt – a gritty take on a classic, the use of magniloquent in the first line setting the scene; well played.

‘A wheel short o’ a penny farthin’’ – nice idiom in a wonderfully dark approach.

Matt, this one’s got such a wild spark—I really felt the jolt in “a wheel short o’ a penny farthin’.” Raw, defiant, totally unboxed.

Thanks! I had a few attempts and all were pretty wild, some got too weird and I decided on simplicity in the end as I kept overcomplicating the concept. Considered trying to write a new version of something I’d already written that would have kinda fitted if I could make it work but if was just becoming complicated to explain in poetry lol
